Your phone number and call settings

Phone System in the sidebar holds the settings for the number itself, across four tabs.

The Phone System settings, General tab

Your Callspace number is at the top — the number to forward your existing line to, and the one to put on your website.

  • Caller ID Name — what appears on someone’s phone when you call them. Maximum 15 characters, so pick the version a customer recognises: “Northside Plumb” over “N Plumbing & Htg”.
  • International Calling & Messaging — allows calls and SMS outside the US and Canada. Off by default, and may incur additional charges.
  • Danger Zone — deletes the number permanently, along with its call history and recordings.
  • Automatic Call Recording — records incoming and outgoing calls.
  • Recording Notification — announces to everyone on the call that it’s being recorded.
  • Transcribe Recordings — generates the text transcripts that make calls searchable and drive the inbox summaries.

Recording and notification requirements differ by state, province, and country. Check what applies where you operate, and turn on the notification in all-party-consent jurisdictions.

Voicemail Greeting sets what callers hear at voicemail. Hold Music sets what plays while they wait.

The voicemail greeting is separate from your agent’s greeting: voicemail plays when nobody and nothing picks up, and the agent greeting is the first thing your agent says when it does.

Controls how an incoming call is routed before and after your agent handles it.

  • Phone System — the line: caller ID, recording, voicemail, hold music.
  • AI Agent — the conversation: greeting, voice, rules, bookings.
